You know those furry little creatures that scurry around trees with their cute fluffy tails? Squirrels are common all around the world, but that doesn't mean the world knows all about the squirrel.

We're going to give you some facts that you may not have known about squirrels: Some squirrels will eat meat. When food sources are low, they'll result to insect, lizards, mice and even snakes. Squirrels plant a lot of trees. Know the saying, "Nothing can come between a squirrel and his nuts?" Well sometimes not even the same squirrel can get to his own nuts. Squirrels are hoarders and like to bury the nuts that they find. When Spring comes, they may return to claim their buried treasure and find a tree sprout instead. Squirrel can't digest cellulose. You don't have to worry about them doing any termite-like damage. Since they can't digest it, they have a diet that consists of protein, carbohydrates and fats. They tend to eat most nuts and seeds but will also eat some fruits and vegetation Squirrels can mate twice a year--in the spring and the fall. This is thanks to their short pregnancies. A mother squirrel will carry her young for around 6 weeks and then raise them for around 10 weeks. Squirrels' behaviors may be different based on where they live.
